Showers and taps where use is physically time-limited – Calculating flow rates

Where a timer is used to physically limit the use of showers or taps within a set period of time, this can be used as the basis for calculating a reduced flow rate.

For example, where use is limited to 2 minutes, 4 times per hour, for a shower or tap with a flow rate of 2 gallons/minute, the flow rate can be calculated as follows:

2 gallons/minute x 8 minutes/hour = 16 gallons/hour = 0.27 gallons/minute
