Sound insulation requirements – Single occupancy residential institutions in Scotland

When assessing single occupancy residential institutions such as student accommodation in Scotland, it is noted that the Scottish regulations do not account for the Ctr acoustic metric.  Therefore, in order to award the first and second Sound Insulation credits, evidence must be provided of the published laboratory performance ‘RW’ of 46 dB for 1 credit and ‘RW’ of 48 dB for 2 credits.  Pre-completion testing is not required.
