ActiveScore and ModeScore Gold or Platinum certification may be used as supporting evidence to demonstrate compliance with the BREEAM Transport issues listed below, provided all underlying BREEAM criteria are met

Evidence Requirements

To award credits using this route, the Assessor must:

  1. Submit the Active or ModeScore Certification and Assessment Report.
  2. Provide a mapping statement demonstrating how the targeted BREEAM criteria have been met.
  3. Provide any Supplementary Evidence identified through the mapping process.

  • BREEAM UK New Construction (2018 & V6) – Tra 02
    Credits may be awarded provided the prerequisite for a Transportation Assessment and Travel Plan (Criterion 1) has been met.
  • BREEAM UK New Construction Residential V6.1 Issue 1.2
    Credits may be awarded provided the prerequisite for Home Information (Criterion 1) has been met.
About Active and ModeScore Sustainable Transport certification:

ActiveScore assesses, certifies and enhances active travel facilities and services in buildings worldwide. The certification evaluates how effectively a development supports active travel through infrastructure, accessibility, user experience and supporting services that encourage walking, cycling and other sustainable transport modes. ActiveScore can be applied to new and existing developments across a range of asset types, providing an independent benchmark for active travel performance.

ModeScore assess and certifies sustainable transport facilities and services in buildings. ModeScore encompasses ActiveScore within its assessment criteria, covering four pillars of sustainable transportation while incorporating accessibility into each.

Both certifications are awarded based on a percentage score against the assessment criteria, with ratings designed to encourage continuous improvement in sustainable and active travel provision:

  • Platinum (80-100%)
