Background
The Mat 01 embodied carbon tables previously used within the BREEAM platform for submitting embodied carbon results have been removed. Feedback from assessors indicated that the tables were difficult to complete accurately and created unnecessary friction in the assessment process.
Change
Assessors are no longer required to manually populate LCA data into platform tables. Instead, the LCA results Excel output generated automatically by the approved LCA software (the LCA template) should be uploaded directly to the platform as the supporting evidence.
Guidance
To achieve credits for a given lifecycle stage, assessors must confirm within the platform that:
- The LCA for that lifecycle stage has been completed, and
- The LCA has been reported.
Confirming both of these will reveal three input fields, into which the corresponding results from the embodied carbon calculations should be entered directly:
- GWP Biogenic A1-3 Sequestered and B5 Sequestered
- GWP Total A1-5, B1-5, C1-4
- Module D
Where benchmark credits are in scope, the total embodied carbon figure used for assessing these credits will be pulled automatically from the last lifecycle stage for which an LCA has been completed.
