Where the installation of a waste compactor is applicable, but it is demonstrated that this will be a tenant obligation, the compactor itself does not have to be provided. Instead, an appropriately sized space and services or infrastructure to accommodate the relevant facilities must be provided.
This must be an identified, dedicated and suitable space, and evidence must be provided to demonstrate that this will be a tenant obligation. Suitable evidence of this includes:
- At design stage, a drawing showing the location of the compactor and services/infrastructure to be installed. For post construction stage, the drawing/evidence must be ‘as constructed’ in terms of the services/infrastructure.
- A copy of the draft lease agreement or a letter from the developer confirming that the compactor/baler is the tenant’s responsibility
